I was able to visit the Open House briefly and I would just like to say
that the library looks great! I am looking forward to getting back to
KY for a longer visit and will spend time in the genealogy room for
sure.
I went to the Stull Cemetery to visit graves of gr.gr grandparents Mose
and Elizabeth Montjoy Stull, gr. grandpa Hazard Perry Shultz and
grandparents Bettie and John H. Cassity and the graves of many other
kinfolk. My sisters and my brother didn't remember going to the
cemetery before and were very moved at the sense of history they felt
there.
We also visited at the Upper Salt Lick Cemetery but I did not have the
courage to wade through the leaves and vines to find another
ancestor--Timothy Carrington. I will definitly go back with boots on.
Has anyone gone through and recorded the gravestones there??? There are
many levels and some areas are fenced in and locked.
Also, at our Stull get together, I learned that a Montjoy graveyard is
located on Alton Stull's farm in Montgomery Co. I did not get out there
this quick trip so I don't know what or who is there. I now know where
the farm is located if anyone is interested and needs directions.
As my sister said as we were driving from Mt. Sterling to Owingsville,
"It's so beautiful here...how could they/we have ever left?"
