LOL Loved that one Darrell!!!
We had a similar incident occur in my family. My son was born in St. Louis,
MO in April 1987. The hospital gave me the appropriate paperwork to request
certified copies of his birth certificate. A staff member told me to allow
90 days for filing before making my request. About 6 months later, after an
out of state move, I remembered to file the paperwork to obtain copies of my
son's birth certificate. Imagine my surprise when the state of Missouri
wrote me there was no record of my son's birth. Several phone calls later, I
discovered my son's birth record was still in his file at the hospital,
unsigned by the delivering doctor. Due to the delay, we encountered similar
problems "proving" my son really was born. Thank goodness for doctor's
statements and immunization records! We barely made the mandatory time limit
to obtain a social security number for my son now required on income tax
forms.
Aren't paper trails wonderful!! <grin>
