So far I have been able to trace my Barnes back to the Bath Co. Census of
1850. I am interested in the family of Joshua Barnes. I think his father
was named Joseph Barnes. Joshua Barnes was a doctor and was first married to
Lucretia Hord. She is listed with him in the 1850 census. The children
listed are Joseph (9), Isabella (6), Adalade (4) and Robert (10). Also in
the household is Adalade HORD, Lucretia's sister.

By the 1860 census Lucretia is gone and her sister, Adalade, is listed as
Joshua's wife. New children listed are Lucretia (9), Joshua (6), Mary (4).
Wheather their mother was Lucretia or Adalade, I don't know.

Bath County Marriage Book # 3 lists Dr. Joshua Barnes age 60 married Adelaid
E. Hord age 42 17 May, 1859. this marriage was just in time for the 1860
census. Hope this explains everything.
