Do you have any information on a William Jasper Muncy from Virginia, then
Clay Co KY.

First Generation

1. Martha Patty Nantz. Born abt 1835.

On 24 Jun 1857 when Martha Patty was 22, she first married Samuel Luther
Muncy, son of John IV Muncy (1794-abt 1838) & Elizabeth Templeton, in Bennett
Rock, Harlan County, Ky. Born in 1837 in Indiana. Samuel Luther died in Lower
Bade Creek, Harlan Co, Ky on 10 Jun 1865, he was 28.

Civil War Union Soldier, F Co 14th Cav Reg. KY. Enlisted date of 12 August
1862 at Irvine KY.
Died from disentry & cough from war.

They had one child (that I know of) ?????

2. William Jasper Muncy. Born on 30 Jan 1863 in Harlan County, Ky. William
Jasper died in Leslie County, Ky on 17 Jun 1941, he was 78.

On 17 Mar 1877 when William Jasper was 14, he first married Lucinda
Pennington, daughter of William Pennington (Dec 1826-aft 1900) & Nancy
Thomas. Lucinda died on 28 Mar 1902. Buried in Pennington Cemetery, Leslie
Co, Ky. They were divorced.

They had the following children:

5 iii. Felix (1877-1968)
6 iv. Rhoda Alice (1887-1973)

On 29 Sep 1888 when William Jasper was 25, he second married Elizabeth
Whitehead Blevins, daughter of Andrew Jackson "Jack" Whitehead (abt 1831-abt
1896) & Catherine Wilder (abt 1820-abt 1860), in Leslie County, Ky. Born abt
1858 in Clay County (now Leslie Co) Ky. Elizabeth died in Manchester, Clay
County Ky aft 1894, she was 36.

Elizabeth possibly died while giving birth to Joseph E. Muncie?????

They had the following children:

On 24 Oct 1897 when William Jasper was 34, he third married Sophia Wilson
Fawbush. Born in May 1866.

They had the following children:

William Jasper fourth married Nancy A Stivers Johnson.

William Jasper fifth married Margaret Maggie Huff Shepherd.

3. William Luther Muncy. Born on 8 Jan 1880 in Leslie County, Ky. William
Luther died in Corbin County, Ky on 16 May 1969, he was 89.

On 24 May 1901 when William Luther was 21, he married Laura Cox. Born on 7
Mar 1880 in Clay County, Ky. Laura died on 24 Oct 1973, she was 93.

4. Taylor James Muncy. Born in Oct 1884 in Ky. Taylor James died in Anville,
Ky on 10 Jul 1961, he was 76.

Taylor James married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Deaton. Born abt 1885. Elizabeth
"Lizzie" died in Anville, Ky on 9 Feb 1956, she was 71.

5. Felix Muncy. Born in Aug 1877. Felix died in Jan 1968, he was 90.

Was living in Manchester, Clay County, Ky.
S. S. #403-07-6212 last address was in Ky, zip code 40403

On 23 Jul 1904 when Felix was 26, he married Isabelle Gibson (Gipson).
Isabelle died in 1964.

6. Rhoda Alice Muncy. Born on 10 Nov 1887 in Cutshin, Leslie Co, Ky. Rhoda
Alice died in Memphis, Ten on 7 Feb 1973, she was 85.

Rhoda moved to Memphis in 1967

On 27 May 1910 when Rhoda Alice was 22, she married Millard Filmore Hamblin,
in Hooker Baptist Church, Clay Co, Ky. Born on 22 Dec 1885. Millard Filmore
died in Amory Monroe, Ms on 24 Mar 1966, he was 80.

7. Martha J. Muncy. Born in Feb 1890. Martha J. died in Pekin, Indiana in
1965, she was 74.

Died in car accident in Spring of 1965, near Perkin Indiana.

On 6 Sep 1906 when Martha J. was 16, she married Theo Deaton.

Was in Salem Indiana.
Joseph Muncie & Maggie Bowling were married in his house on 29 Sep 1888.

Martha A. Muncy & Theo Deaton had the following children:

8. Laura Muncy. Born in Feb 1892. Laura died bef Nov 1958, she was 66.

On 9 Nov 1905 when Laura was 13, she married Samuel Buttry, son of Mr.
Buttry, in Marion Muncy's house, Clay County, Ky.

9. Mary Frances Muncy. Born on 1 Nov 1893 in Rose Hill, Lee County, Virginia.
Mary Frances died in Tulsa, Tulsa County, OK on 21 Jan 1954, she was 60.

Went to school at Sue Bennett 1909-1910, then attended Berea College. She
taught school in Clay County Kentucky. The first school she taught at was
Otter Creek in 1912. In 1914, she taught at Slick Rock & in 1913-1916 she
taught at Martin.

On 3 Sep 1914 when Mary Frances was 20, she married Charles Louis Martin, in
At Will Muncy's in Clay County, KY. Born on 11 Oct 1887 in Byron, Clay Co,
Ky. Charles Louis died on 23 Jan 1957, he was 69.

Went to school at Sue Bennett & Berea.
He was dismissed from school for shooting the window panes out of his
classroom...from the inside!
In 1910 he was in OK with his Uncle Robert Potter Martin. Went back to
Kentucky & married in 1914. Moved back to OK in 1926 via train.
Had his leg removed & could no longer farm.

They had the following children:

10. Joseph E. Muncie. Born on 25 Jan 1894 in Manchester, Clay County Ky.
Joseph E. died in Cincinnati, Hamilton County Ohio on 6 Nov 1958, he was 64.
Buried on 12 Nov 1958 in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Ohio.
Occupation: Farmer.
Religion: Baptist.

On 12 Mar 1914 when Joseph E. was 20, he first married Martha Mary Craft.

On 16 Jan 1920 when Joseph E. was 25, he second married Maggie Bowling,
daughter of Isaac Bowlin (22 Apr 1875-15 Apr 1958) & Lucy Barnett (1879-26
Apr 1929), in Theo Deaton's house (brother in-law).
Born on 19 Dec 1899 in Rock Gap, Clay County, Ky. Maggie died in Hamilton,
Butler County, Ohio on 5 Jun 1967, she was 67. Buried on 8 Jun 1967 in
Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Ohio.

Maggie died of myocardial failure due to auricular fibrillation &
arteriosclerotic heart disease at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton.
Maggie was a housewife & also worked for the Hamilton Board of Education
Social Security #287-28-14812???
Services were at Twinbrook Hills Baptist Church 8 June1967.
Maggie was a member of Twinbrook Hills Baptist Church (her services were
there).
Address at time of death was 6513 Glenmont Drive, Hamilton Ohio.


Joseph & Maggie lived in Crawford Kentucky on 10 Sep 1924 (Daisy's birth).
Joseph served in WWI. He served with the Machine Gun Company of the Fifth
Infantry. He was Honorably discharged on 30 Aug 1919.
Joseph operated a farm in Manchester County KY & then in Hamilton Ohio until
1943. He then went to work at Columbia Machine Tool Company for 7 years. He
then worked at the Hamilton Board of Education as a custodian for 2 years
before retiring in 1952 due to health reasons.
Joseph was a member of the First United Baptist Church, 414 South 11 street.
Social Security #275-12-8420.
Joseph died from acute left coronary artery embolus, due to old myocardial
infarction with mural thrombus & coronary arteriosclerosis. His Death
Certificate said he died "in minutes" of onset.
He was in Cincinnati Veterans Hospital for 10 days before he died at 8:15
the morning of Nov 6 1958.
Pall Bearers at Joseph's funeral were Amos Davis, Leland Sams, Leonard Bond,
Marvin Thackery, Carl Muncie & Robert Lee Muncie.

Henry left no family members when he died.
