Heather,
I am heartbroken over Hensley Cemetery, I went there after our family reunion
a few years ago and I could not believe what I saw, complete disrespect for
our BELOVED ancestors.

When I returned home to Florida, I tried to find out where to go and where I
could get the original lists of names buried in that cemetery. There are
trees growing right up through graves and you are right, trash and trees
burned right on the graves and no one brothers to clean up the mess. I did
get one answer that said that the National Park and Forest Assoociation , I
believe, owned the property now and there was a group of church people who
took up donations each year and tried to clean the cemetery up. Well so much
for the NPFA, their ancestors should be top of the list as far as maintaining
the cemetery, they should be proud when fourth and fifth, etc generations
come there to visit the graves of their ancestors and find such a nightmare.
It is a shame. Now this terrible thing that has happened to our ancestors
graves, real heartbreaking. What can we do to get someone to clean up the
cemetery, search and name all the graves that are sunken, trees growing out
of them, dig up the stones that have been covered over, repair broken stones,
and above all, stop the dirt bikes from using the cemetery as a bike trail
and parties and to maintain a permanent well cared for cemetery for our
ancestors resting place?
Thank you so much for the list, as these are our ancestors. I am still
looking for Robert George Marsee's grave in Hensley Cemetery. Nancy Catherine
Jones Marsee was his wife, they are my ggrandfather and ggrandmother along
with the other relatives. TO ALL OF YOU, WHAT CAN WE DO???????
