ROWLAND, MARTHA L. - 73, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 29,
2004 at Mariner Health of Newport. She was born July 20, 1930 in Middlesboro, Ky.
She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents,
William L. and Frances L., Johnson; ex-husband, Edward Rowland; brother, Robert
Johnson; sister, Alice Frietsch. She is survived by her companion of thirty-six
years, Johnny L. Hance; daughter and son in law, Patricia and Delmar Williamson
of Newport; sons and daughters in law, Leslie and Patricia Rowland of
Knoxville, Jimi and Elizabeth Rowland of Sevierville and Billy and Cindy Rowland of
Newport; grandchildren, Marty Denton and Michelle Denton Manis, Jenny Rowland,
Kevin Rowland, Jimi Rowland, Joshua Rowland and Megan Rowland; great
grandchildren, Jacob Denton, Justin Denton, Gary Manis, Avalon Rowland and Bo Rowland;
brothers, W.L. Johnson, Jr., Middlesboro, Ky., John Johnson, Pontiac, Mich.;
sisters, Bessie Hash, Middlesboro, Ky., Mary Vaughn, Akron, Ohio, Betty Lou
Johnson, London, Ky., Anita Asher, Baxter, Tenn., Joyce Klaya, Old Hickory,
Tenn., Bea Brown, Mt. Pleasant, NC, Nancy Smith, Harrogate, Tenn. and Jane Frazier,
Minot, ND. Funeral service will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the Manes Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Larry Wells and Rev. Glenn Ball officiating. Music will be
provided by Evelyn Taylor. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Union
Cemetery. Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive
friends from 5-8 p.m. prior to the service. Manes Funeral Home is in charge.
