My great-grandfather, Henry GERCKEN, married Sarah C. ROUSE in Boone County, on April 19,1857. He entered the Union Army in 1862 in Iowa and gave his birthplace as Salzwedel, Germany. I am searching for a birthdate. Where would I find a naturalization record for him - if he became naturalized in Kentucky? I am thinking he was born about 1830, this according to Army papers, that at his release from the Army in 1863 he was 33 years old.

I have a copy of the marriage return but would there be a copy of the marriage license application on which hopefully his birth date would be stated?
