I am decendant of William Scott and from "History of Bourbon Co., Ky" states
that Wm. Scott with others came down the Ohio River with George Rogers Clark
to settle new lands around Corn Island near what is now Louisville, 1778. He
came with 18 other families from Carlisle , Pennsylvania. I have much
information after they came to Kentucky , but cannot find anything on them
while in Pennsylvania and previous time. His wife was Helen Montgomery,
brother John and Robert. Say in DeVerter book "Our Pioneer Ancestors" Vol.
II (The Genealogy of The Scott and Galloway Families, that they came from
Rye, Ireland. I find nor have heard of any Rye Ireland. I have found a Rye,
Scotland which still exists. My interest is this: where did George Rogers
hook up with these people? There are archives on George Rogers Clark but I
have no access to them. Can anyone help me with taking this family back
further in my genealogy quest? Wm was pack horse master for General
Braddock. Any information will be appreciated. I have all information
within Ky. so no need for that. The Cane Ridge Associated Presbyterian
Church was church home to the above mentioned families with Wm. Scott, they
helped to build it. Any information on that. Also now I read the
travelers left from Pittsburg and Wheeling. This is all I have. Thank
you, Rea
