A letter from Dad to his Mother Mrs. Hazel M. Bayes
322 24th Street Ashland, Kentucky dated July 25, 1943.
"Dear Mother
I received your letter and was very glad to hear from you. Yes, mother
you can send clippings from the paper and also pictures, I will be glad
to get any you send me, in fact, I have often wondered why you didn't
send me any. I was almost sure George would marry Adah and am glad to
hear it. Adah was going to the Louisville School of Nursing when I came
into the Army.
Mother I prefer red as the color and I think maple trees are very good.
It would be better for Dad to pick the berries than to pay such an
exorbitant price for them. That sounds about like Billy, calling up and
wanting to know how you are everyday, tell him I said hello. I am sorry
to hear you are not feeling so well and I hope you get well soon. I am
glad to hear that Gavis T. Long is taking Dr. Heath's place as professor
of history at the college, I know they could not have found a better
one. So they finally settled the swimming pool question; and I hope for
good. I must close for now.
