I am Frank BREWER. Mahalah (MAYNARD) & Willis BREWER are my great-great
grandparents. On March 3, 1989 an article titled, "The Saga Of Charity
Brewer" by Athelene "Jackie" Genge, was in The Wolfe County News (WCN).
Jackie alleged: (a) Charity BREWER was born in Ashe Co. NC; (b) Charity
wed Shadrach MAYNARD; and (c) Charity gave birth to Mahalah MAYNARD.

JACKIE'S SAGA OF CHARITY BREWER IS FALSE !!!

Jackie is suspect as having plagiarized from a much older WCN article:
"Cave House On Holly Creek
Birthplace Of First White Child Born In Wolfe County"

REWARD OFFER OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS
Some folks believe that on the 24th day of September, 1777, a baby girl
was born, to Rebecca & Ambrose BREWER, named Charity; and this Charity
grew up and wed Shadrach MAYNARD; and to this Charity & Shadrach was
born a baby girl named Mahalah; and this Mahalah grew up and wed Willis
BREWER; I will give $1000.00 to the first person providing certified
copies to me of authentic documents that prove this belief to be true.

I believe legal records prove Charity (b.1777) was a MAINS, and any
legal record showing "MAINS" replaced by "MAYNARD" to be falsified!!!
According to the older article: Charity's first husband was a BREWER.
Acording to the legal record Charity had been a MAINS; however, it may
have been MEANS, or a one syllable surname sounding' like that. Charity
could not read or write. I welcome any and all response. NOTE: Prior
to county lines changes, Holly Creek had been in Breathitt, County, KY.
Do not confuse another Charity BREWER (b: 1875) who wed a John HOLLON.
