*July 22, 1921 - Uncle Sam Stidham passes away - Samuel H. Stidham was born
January 13, 1839 in Breathitt County and died July 15, 1921. He was married
first to Miss Nancy Ann Deaton. Having no children, they adopted two, a boy,
S. B. Stidham who has been dead several years and a girl, who is now Mrs. L.
T. Davidson of Middletown Ohio. Some years after the death of his first
wife, he was married to Mrs. Carrie Combs. To them was born one son, little
James, who is now a child of four years. Uncle Sam united early in life with
the Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Baptist Church of Jackson.
*November 4, 1921 - Elisha L. Noble and John Toney Deaton (both of Altro),
two democrats, assign their reasons for being for M. S. Craine for State
Senate.
*March 10, 1922, War Creek News - Mrs. Frank Deaton is spending the weekend
at her father's, James Miller.
*May 26, 1922 Altro News - Born to wife of C. T. Deaton on May 8, a fine pair
of twin boys. Mother and sons are doing nicely.
*August 13, 1920, Marriage - Miss Elizabeth Little of Elkatawa and C. W.
Hawkins of Beattyville married two weeks ago at Beattyville. Bride is
daughter of Henry Little of Elkatawa.
*September 24, 1920, marriage license - Clint Salyer and Dora Little, both of
Guerrant.
*October 15, 1920, marriage license - Hugh Bryant, 28, and Bertha Lyttle, 34,
both of Hazard.
*January 14, 1921, Civil War Veteran Passes Away - Andy Hays, Sr., 83 years
of age, was found dead in his bed Sunday morning. In his early age he was
married to Miss Minerva Little, daughter of Joe Little, who was one of the
best families in Breathitt. His wife died about 12 or 15 years ago. Having
no children, Uncle Andy has made his home with his brothers since the death
of his wife. He was laid to rest beside his wife Monday in the Joe Little
graveyard.
