Miss Ethel Basham
Lodiburg, June 26 (Special) - This community was greatly saddened by the illness and death of Miss Ethel Basham, daughter of Mr and Mrs Adam Basham, who was born September 9, 1882 and died June 18, 1926. Miss Basham professed faith in Christ and became a member of the (creased) Raymond Baptist Church when only (crease) years of age and has ever since liv(crease) a pure and consecrated life, true (crease) her childhood faith and pledges. She possessed a pleasing personality which endeared her to those who knew her. For several years past she has been in Chillicothe, Mo., where she held a position of stenographer. She was very successful in her business career, but her health became impaired and her desire was to get back home, which was realized only one week before her death. Besides her parents she is survived by one brother, Mercer Basham of Lodicurg, two sisters, Mrs Edgar Compton of Evansville, Indiana and Miss Jennie Basham of Louisville and a host of friends.
The funeral was held on Sunday following her death, in the Walnut Grove Church and internment in the church cemetery, conducted by Rev H S English. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. The grave was hidden beneath its blanket of snow white lilies, emblematical of her life in its purity. The pall bearers were, John Keys, Dillon Payne, Ora Kelm, Mack Payne, Kirby Rodgers and Grayson Payne. The undertaker in charge was J D Ashcroft of Irvington using his motor hearse. The church was crowned with a host of friends and realtive of Miss Basham.
