His name was Francis Russell Walters, Sr., but I can't remember his wife's
name. May have been Letty, but not sure. We always called her Mrs. Walters
when I was growing up in that neighborhood. She may have given piano lessons
also. They lived on the south side of courthouse hill near Squire and Mary
Roberts Hensley, John and Allie Roberts, Gilbert and Grace Roberts Baker, Joe
Schoetley and Lou Ellen Roberts. Les? Potter and Will? Marcum lived across the
street. We lived between Gilbert Baker and "Horsehead" Roach and across the
street from Colson and Viola Ferguson, and John Furmans.
Dorcas married Sam Benge and they lived on other side of preacher Walters
across the street from Homer and Bea Rader and Glenn Cody. I think Francis R.
Walters, Jr. lived next to Sam and Dorcas. I seem to recall that Francis Jr.
ran a service station on Richmond Rd and Sam Benge had a shop for rebuilding
car batteries. I also remember your cousin Jarve Anderson, but did not know
him well. Used to deliver his paper when I was a boy. In those days, I
delivered morning and evening newspapers for Aunt Kate Steele, who had the
agency for both Louisville Courier-Journal and Lexington Hearld Leader, to
earn a little pocket money.
I thought Jan had a boy named Tommy Walters who would be about my age (60 +),
but did not see him listed among the survivors.
