Hello Stan,
I don't know of anyone on the Gum side that could have been
the right age (60-70) that would have been listed on the 1840
Clay Census. I also believe (no proof) this was Martha listed
in their household in 1840.
Almost everyone listed on the page with Steven Gum and on
the following couple pages after him are listed in Owsley Co.
1850 Census, so evidently, they were living in the section of
Clay County that became Owsley Co. in 1843, and did not move.
I have no proof as to where Elizabeth was born, but I have her
as being born in NC. The 1860 Owsley Co. Census list her as
being born in NC, and Stephen born in KY.
