Hello Cousin Ralph,
We haven't received our first copy of the Clay County
Ancestral News for 1999.
It seems to me that when things go smooth for Laura
in the office, something goes wrong at the printers.
Laura really does a terrific job of getting everything
together and mailed out to all of us. How she ever
gets all that work done is beyond me.
I have worked in an one person office, and believe
me, you never see the top of your desk. All you
see are piles and piles of paper work. I always worked
on the one that seemed to be smoking. I figured that must
be the hottest so therefore, must have the highest priority.
Sometimes I was wrong; the smoke was only coming from
my cup of coffee.
Anyway, don't be alarmed about not hearing from the Clay
County Genealogical and Historical Society. They don't
send out membership cards or certificates, but one day
you will look in your mail box and there will be a copy of
The Clay County Ancestral News and you will know that
it has been well worth the wait.
I hope to drop in at the office of the Historical Society
to meet Laura when I go to Oneida for the Centennial
and Homecoming Celebration.
Sorry that Annie cannot make it to the celebration.
Margie (Brown) Daniels will be coming to
Oneida with me. We will be staying in London
at the Budget Host Motel. Two of my sisters
and their children will also be there. Margie and
I hope to get an early start so we can do a little
visiting on Friday.
Hope to see you this month.
