Martha, John Morris must have been the same sort of fellow his
gg gs Farris Morris was. Farris was a gung-ho leading citizen in
McKee and Jackso County, but he always had to have his way. If
there had been no Farris there would not have been a Kiwanis
Park. I loved the man like a brother, but I found him hard to
work with. He and I were two of the most active members in the
club.
John Morris and Robert Hays had been the main instigators
in forming Jackso County. The had a difficulty about the
division of the county into districts. Each want to be in the
McKee division without the other. They excused themselves from
the committee that met to make the divide. The others favored
Hays and jerrymander to include him. Morris moved out to where
the Isaacs lived. I don't remember naming the Isaacs man,Andy.
I just heard that an Isaacs man killed John with a stone in the
street in front of what now is the public library.
State Archives, Jackson County deaths has this" John
Morris, age 73 born Virginia, died January 20, 1859 (murdered)
paent John Morris, Sr.
