Subject: [KYCLAY] To Descendants of Dillion Asher b. 1777
Date: Thu, 18 May 2000 14:32:39 EDT
Hello All...
Some of you may recall a few months ago when I had written to these
lists looking for direct male line descendants of Dillion Asher to
participate in DNA testing to prove whether or not Dillion did in fact father
children by my Collett line. Many of you had asked for me to post the
results once they came in.
The testing was done and I am happy to say that there were four of us who
participated. We had a direct male line descendant of William Blevins Asher,
of Wilkerson Asher, Samuel Collett, and Henry Collett...all thought to be
children by Dillion and each of his women.
To no surprise, the DNA of the descendant of Wilkerson Asher and William
Blevins Asher were a match. The DNA of the Collett descendants (myself
included) did not match the Asher DNA. Thus, proving that Dillion Asher did
not father Samuel Collett b. 1828 or Henry Collett b. 1824, as had been
thought. Dillion may have been the father of some of the other Collett
children---right now we are discussing having their descendants tested.
Also, the Collett DNA did not match eachother. Thus, Henry Collett b. 1824
and Samuel Collett b. 1828 had yet different fathers from eachother.
Anyway, as promised, I wanted to pass on the results (even though they aren't
what we had hoped). Sincerely, Barry Collett
