Bonnie, Clay County Vital Statistics as transcribed and published by the
Knox County Genealogical Society, Inc. Post Office Box 18414, Louisville, Ky
40218, I hope this is current. If not someone correct me. Their
publication covers Clay County Births from 1852 through 1861 then skips to
some births in 1874 and 1876, then skips to 1904, a few births in 1906 then
most of 1907. Thes records were recorded in the county court houses. I think
in the Tax Commissioner`s Office. They did not like the job and got the law
appealed.
.
Finally the legislaturs got up off their fat asses and passed a law
beginning 1911 that put the records of births in the Kentucky Department of
Health and proviided a fee to midwives that paid them for each birth they
registered. this pervailed until it became common practice for doctors and
midwives to register all births in Kentucky. For Kentucky Births 1911 and
beyond , write to:;
KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES
OFFICE OF VITAL STATISTICS
275 E. MAIN STREET
FRANKFORT KY 40621
859-564-4211 for current application blanks. JESS WILSON
