Also one of this Thomas Smith III's daughter's married Daniel Stuart, father
of Thomas Stewart who married Pernethia Smith. However, Daniel's daughter
Nancy Stewart also married a Thomas Smith Jr., who is my direct ancestor (so
are Thomas Stewart and Pernethia too), but while I have not found out who
Thomas Smith Jr.'s father was so far nothing indicates he came from the
line of the Thomas Smith that is being discussed here. He was definitely
not a son of Thomas Smith II and Nancy Eversole as he was born 10 years
prior to their marriage or in the year 1800.
Furthermore, the only connection I have found between Pernethia Smith and
any Thomas Smith is the name of the bondsman on her marriage record to
Thomas Stewart. Has anyone else found anything further to connect her to
Thomas Smith and Nancy Eversole? The reason I ask is that I have wondered
since my Thomas Smith Jr. married Nancy Stewart and because the names of
bondsmen don't have to be fathers but can be brothers, cousins or even
friends, if was he who was bondsman for that marriage. I've wondered if
somehow Pernethia Smith was connected to him, like a sibling since often
siblings married into the same families. If Pernethia really is Thomas
Smith and Nancy Eversole's daughter then, I know he was not connected to her
as a sibling so that is why I'm wondering if anything aside from that
marriage bond connects Pernethia to Thomas and Nancy Eversole Smith.
Molly Smith is a new name connected to Benjamin Smith and Celia Hall as
well. I have not seen a child listed by that name before in any file
connected to Benjamin and Celia. I have seen a long list connected to him
in several different documents, some have proven to indeed be connected to
him, like Hugh, Sylvania, Malakiah, Milton, and Anne Smith Hubbard Jackson
(the last 3 all being my direct ancestors). One, Samuel Smith have been
proven NOT to be his child, though he has been linked to him in some family
files. Others remain in limbo or in doubt, either due to questions about
the connection, or questions about there possibly being two people by the
same name, such as the case with son Jesse Smith, (the Jesse that appears in
the Clay County Marriage index says his father was Jabel) or because of a
lack of anything to directly prove the connection to Benjamin and Celia.
