TREE-Pocahontas whereas you may find the entire ancestry you seek.

To start your research inquire under JAMES BOLLING 1756 and Wm. BOWLING 1757
s/o Benjamin Bolling 1737 and you may find the Grandparents of a Boone Bowling
1881/1885 birth listed as:
Grandparents:
b. John Bowling Jr.1820 md Nancy Bowling 1826 who had:
Son:
(1)Eli 'Funk' Bowling 1844-1900 md 1st, Armilda Hacker 1853

d/o Claib Hacker & Action Roberts and they had a child 1881/1885 Boone
Bowling.

In addition I believe the burial place of Eli 'Funk' Bowling 1844-1900 is in
LAUREL County rather than LETCHER County. Would have to check my databases
further.
