Hi All,
Here is something for you to think about. Dna testing for genealogical purposes is a terrific thing, of that there is no doubt. But, and isn't there always one lol, you have to remember there are some fallbacks to DNA testing also.
Questions to ask:
1. What is required of a specific testing subject to be tested?
The reason this question is so important is that we need to be sure the test subject is a good source. We all make mistakes when doing our genealogy just to find them later when we get good documention. If the test subject can't document their genealogy back to their stated ancestor with good documentation then that test subject is not a good one. As a result possibly hundreds of people are mislead.
2. Is the test subject willing to list their sources?
3. Does the testing website list the test subject's name and email (or an alternate snail mail)?
How are you to know if the test subject is a reliable one if you don't even know who they are?
These were just a few of the questions that I have about some of the DNA testing websites. Of course some of them do list all you need and others list nothing but results. Hope this helps some of you.
