Updates to my original message - I've left the original at the bottom, as
some lists still seem to be bottled up and messages coming through slowly.

A little more info and some corrections to what I sent first:

In the 1840 Clinton County census, there's a John Madison listed, with the
following breakdown of household members:
1 male 50-60
1 female 40-50
1 male 20-30
2 females 15-20
2 males 10-15
2 males 5-10
2 males under 5

Since "my" John Madison was born 10 May 1820 (in NC), the 50-60 year old
male is too old to be him... maybe his father? The 40-50 year old female I
figure might be his mother, since she would be too old to be Faitha King
Madison (she would have been about 15 during this census). I don't know if
one of the 15-20 year old females is Faitha or not - I don't know when "my"
John and Faitha got married. I don't have any idea who the rest of the
family members might be.

Clarrinda Madison is buried in Davidson Cemetery. Her tombstone says she
was born 14 April 1844 and died 20 April 1865.

W.G. that I had listed as being born in 1818 was an error in the cemetery
book. His birthdate is actually 13 September 1848, died 4 November 1912, so
this would make him the William Green in the census. He married Rhoda E.
Norris. They had at least one daughter, Minnie F. Madison, born 26 Jun 1894
and died 31 August 1938. She married a Vincent. She's buried in Davidson
Cemetery.

Dorinda was born about 1851, she was listed as age 19 in the 1870 census,
housekeeping for her father.

John H. is actually John Higason. He was born 3 March 1856 and died 1
December 1930. He married Janie Garner. Janie was born about 1857 and died
10 June 1932. Her parents were Ike Garner and Frannie Burns according to
her death certificate. Higason & Janie are buried in Garner Cemetery in
Cumberland County. Their daughter, Gertie was born 1 July 1889 and died 14
Jan 1953. Her husband, John T. Nation, was born 15 Nov 1876 and died 3 Jan
1943. Gertie & John are buried in Modoc Cemetery in Cumberland County.

The Bradley Madison that I had indicated was the son of Henry H. & Martha
doesn't belong to them. I don't know who he does belong to, though. They
did have a son, James M. and a daughter, Sarah Ellen. James was born 9
February 1877 and died 11 May 1877. James is buried in Davidson Cemetery.
Ellen was born 13 April 1878 and died 26 Dec 1943. She married Henry Robert
Watson. Bob was born 2 Jan 1866 and died 1 Jan 1944. Bob and Ellen are
buried in Rose of Sharon Cemetery in Cumberland Co.

Perry A. Madison was born about 1867 and died 13 January 1931. He married
Hattie Richardson. Perry's buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Clinton County.
Hattie is NOT buried there with him.

Marion A. Madison was born 19 December 1868 and died 30 April 1947. He
married Belle Zora ??. She was born 18 February 1869 and died 4 July 1910.
They had 2 children that I've found, Charlie A. Madison, born 3 Jan 1900 and
died 26 Aug 1901 and Nora A. Madison, she was born 6 July 1895 and died 22
September 1900. All 4 of them are buried in Davidson Cemetery in Clinton
County.

There's also a daughter, Barbara, aged 6 that's listed in the 1870 census in
the household of "my" John. I haven't found anything else at all on her.

Thanks to a fellow list member, I've been in contact with someone that is
researching the Madison family in Edmonson County. We haven't found the
connection between our families yet, but are fairly certain there is one.

Anyone else researching the Madison family (or any of its descendants) or
the Higason King family of Clinton/Cumberland County?

TIA,
~Sherri

My apologies, in advance, if you receive this more than once.

Seeking help in sorting out my Madison family lines - I know I'm missing
some of the pieces out there, and probably have some extras, but don't have
enough info to sort it out myself.

In our King family, I have John Madison, b. 20 May 1820, d. 12-30-1887
(parents unknown). He married Faitha Addie King, daughter of Higason King
and Annis unknown. Faitha King Madison was born 3 Nov 1825 and died 12 Aug
1869. They lived in and are buried in Clinton County. The children I have
listed for them are Clerenda, William G., (I suspect this is William Green
and he goes by the name Green), Perry (who served as Cumberland County
sheriff), Higason (known as "Hick"), Henry H., Marion A., John H., Bryant,
Granville B. (this may be Bryant), and Dorinda.

The other clues or things I THINK I know:
Perry Madison (son of John & Faitha) was married to Hattie ?? - no children
that I know of.
Higason "Hick" (son of John & Faitha) was married to Janie ?? - 2 children
that I've identified - Granville (also known as "Bud"), who was married to
Angie B. ?? and Gertie, who married John T. Nation.
Green Madison (son of John & Faitha) was born 4 Nov 1850 & died 11-4-1912.
His DC states that he was buried in Davidson Cemetery (Clinton County), but
there's not a stone for him - probably in one of the numerous unmarked
graves.
Henry H. Madison (son of John & Faitha), married to Martha Young. Henry,
Martha and a son Bradley A. are buried in Rose of Sharon Cemetery in
Cumberland County (they do have headstones).

There's a W.G. Madison buried in Davidson Cemetery, who was born 13 Sep 1818
and died 4 Nov 1912. He was the husband of Rhoda, according to his
headstone. Rhoda E. Madison is also buried in Davidson Cemetery. Her
headstone says she was born 7 Feb 1868 and died 4 July 1895. (Wasn't he a
"cradle snatcher"! <vbg>)

I've also found an Alfred M. Madison that was married to Frona Melton and
was the father of Perry R., Nettie A., Neta A., Granville M., and Raymond A.
Raymond & Perry R. appear to have been twins. All of the chilrdren were
born in Clinton County. Frona's buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, but Alfred's
nowhere to be found. (Alfred was born about the same timeframe as John &
Faitha's kids.)

There's a Homer O. Madison, married to Sally L. ??, who are both buried in
Five Springs Cemetery in Clinton County (from the Clinton County Cemetery
book). I can't place Homer, either.

Add Marion A. Madison to the list of those I haven't been able to link in -
I think he's the sone of John & Faitha, but don't have any proof of that.

Now, while trying to sort these folks out yesterday, I discovered that there
are individuals with the same names scattered across Edmonson and Barren
Counties. Green, Higason, and Granville names aren't that common - add
Henry & Perry to the list, and the probablility that there's some family
connection between the different ones seems likely. (Higason was a family
name of Faitha King's father and grandfather.)

Can anyone shed any light or share any info about these people?

~Sherri

P.S. Davidson Cemetery in Clinton County has probably 60 or 70 unmarked
graves - there are field stones or plain concrete markers, if there's
anything at all (many are indicated by the sunken grave sites). Can anyone
help identify who's buried there that doesn't have a tombstone?
