I don't have a lot of information about Jesse's family. I only have Ernest Harmon, and Otha Dallas as his children with Mary Alice Brown. I do have that his second wife was Rosalie, but no maiden name or any other information.
John was my great-grandfather, Claude my grandfather and Stanley my father. I have not had the time to pursue any further. I don't have a clue who Archibald's father was. I also don't know where to begin to look in TN records for Mary.
Anita

Looking for anyone who knows anything about Lucy F. CARTER, born about 1832-1840 in Tennessee. I think she may have married John Calvin RIGNEY about 1863 but have not found a marriage record in the counties of Fentress (TN), Clinton (KY) or Wayne (KY). I do know that she is the only Lucy F. the right age in the 3-county area to have been the wife of John Calvin RIGNEY, a son of Mary "Polly" RIGNEY from Fentress Co., TN. I am researching the RIGNEY family for my husband and his sisters.
Lucy F. CARTER appears in both the 1850 and 1860 Wayne Co., KY Census as follows:
1850 Wayne Co., Kentucky Census; 1st Division; September 5th; Line 26; Household 566: CARTER, Ruth, age 70, female, born in TN; Waymon, age 21, male, laborer, born in TN; Lucy, age 18 (born about 1832), born in TN
1860 Wayne Co., Kentucky Census; Post Office Monticello; Page 211; August 24th; Line 8; Household 1418; visit 1412: CARTER, Ruth, age 80, house wife, born in TN; Waymon, age 27, male, day laborer, born in TN; Lucy F., age 25 (born about 1835), born in TN; YOUNG, Lucy F., age 12, female, born in KY
I have not found her in 1870 unless she was the same as the Lucy who married John Calvin RIGNEY. Information concerning this couple follows:
1870 Fentress Co., TN Census; Jamestown, 5 Aug. 1870: RIGNEY, John, 30, male, white, labor on farm, TN; Lucey, age 35 (born about 1835), female, white, keeping house, born in TN; Victoria 7, fe., white, at home, KY; Mary Jane 5, fe., white, at home, KY
1872 Tax Records of Fentress Co., TN shows John C. RIGNEY charged a Poll Tax in District 7.
1880 Clinton Co., KY Census: RIGNEY, John, w, m, 42 (NOTE: born c.1838) farmer, TN,KY,KY; Lucy F., w, f, 41 (born about 1839), wife, born in TN, both parents born in KY; Victory, w, f, 16, dau, TN,KY,KY; Sarah J., w, f, 14, dau, TN,KY,KY.
There are two 1890 Clinton Co., KY Deeds of interest:
William Rigney to John C. Rigney; Deed Book I, page 506
Calvin Rigney and wife, Lucy Rigney, to Nashville Lumber Co.; Deed Book I, page 518
1900 Clinton Co., KY Census: Magisterial District 5, Hays; Ancestry.com Image 12 of 25: RIGNEY, John Calvin, farmer, w, m, 1835, married 40 years, TN,TN,TN; Lucy F., wife, w, f, May 1840, 3-2 ch, TN,TN, TN; Victorea, dau, w, f, Jan 1865, s, 3-3 ch (?), KY,TN,TN; Wm. F., gdson, w, m, Apr 1883, KY,KY,KY; John M., gdson, w, m, May 1891, KY,KY,KY; Ader M., gdau, w, f, May 1894, KY,KY,KY; Mary J., dau, Oct 1865, s, 2-2 ch (?), KY,TN,TN; Dely Ana J., dau, w, f, Apr 1884; KY,TN,KY; Dora F., gdau, w, f, May 1893, KY,KY,KY.
Again, I have not found either John Calvin or Lucy F. RIGNEY buried in the 3 neighboring counties of Fentress (TN), Clinton (KY) or Wayne (KY). Their daughters were still in the area in 1910 but John C. and Lucy F. RIGNEY may have relocated by then.
Would love to hear from any RIGNEY or CARTER researchers or descendants who have any information to share. I will gladly help them too!
Sincerely,
Anna Bertram
