Sorry to say I haven't seen anything on James L. Groce. I did find 1880 census, hope this helps.
The Jacob Taylor Groce I post was born in 1847 who married Jane Lee, so this could not be your Jane Groce, sorry. Your James L. Groce was born 1828 from the 1880 census I posted below.
