Locust Grove was the former site of the Confederate Reunions following
the Civil War. Each summer the old soldiers would gather there. I know
my wife's ancestor, Joseph Griffin, was one such participant. Do any of
the on-line readers know of other Confederates buried there? Perhaps we
can obtain tombstones for them.

My copy of the Pickett co. TN Cem. book "Gone but not forgotten" by
Richd.
Pierce
c 1994 lists the Bird/Byrd name on 43 pages. I found three that might
be of
interest:
P 132 Rosier M. Byrd 16 Sep 1911 19 Sep 1988 Son of Andy C. & Frances

Robbins.
P157 Fred Darnell Byrd 1895 1975 Son of Andy C. & Frances Robbins.
P250 James Byrd 1844 1907 Son of Andrew & Minerva Robbins. Also served
during Civil War in Co. A, 13 Ky Cav.
There are also two addnl sons of Andrew Byrd listed here:
Louis A. with his wife and Andy Campbell Byrd 1875-1956 with his wife.
The book also lists the Locust Grove Cem in Clinton Co. Ky and
contains
the record on P392 of Andy Byrd 1809 1906 Pvt Co. A, 3rd Cav. CSA

Hope this has been some help.

There is not a map and we do not have sextons in our cemeteries.
Burials were on a first-come, first-served basis. Plots were not
reserved and maps were never drawn. My advice is to ask local family
and if you still do not find your answer, just find the Byrd family row
and pick out an unknown grave. Remove the tombstone and replace it with
your new one. That is probably as good as you can ever hope.

Good luck with the family.

I have Byrd family in this cemetery and would love to put markers on
their graves. Does anyone know who is in charge of maping out the grave
sites so I could find the exact grave my family is buried in, or the
pastor of the church.
Thank so much
