Anna,
The Rector Flats area is a beautiful site in Wayne County. As a matter
of fact, it is one of my favorites.
The Rector Cemetery is on the line between Clinton and Pickett Counties.
I have 21 known graves there, but I am seeking the names of the
unknowns. Someone has made the request to the cemetery committee to
clean and restore this cemetery with the future request of a burial site
for a elderly person. We want to get the site in shape and get access
by road. There is a need for a few grave markers. Do you know of
anyone buried at this site about 1/2 mile west of Static.

I am currently looking for any person buried in the Rector Cemetery near
Static who does not have an inscribed tombstone. Does anyone on this
net know of any such individual? The site is along the State Line Road.
Rectors, Browns, Selbys, and Poes are just a few of the surnames I have
found.
Our cemetery committee is interested in the cemetery. We hope to
preserve it and give it a good cleaning.

Gary,
Is this the same cemetery as the Rector Flats Cemetery? If so, there
are two books in the Wayne Co., KY public library that might help you.
They are both by Clarissa Ruth Barnes Smart. At least I think I have the
name right. They are about the German people who settled in Wayne Co.,
KY (?) at Rector Flats. Many of them (100 or so?) died in a typhoid
epidemic and are buried there in the Rector Flat Cemetery. They were the
first or among the first burials there. One was William D. Rector, the
first husband of Rebecca Owens, who later married Pleasant M. DeRossett
of Clinton Co., KY. Rebecca and her 2nd husband were my husband's
great-grandparents. William D. Rector was born Oct 17, 1844 and died at
Rector Flat of typhoid fever on Sep 20, 1867. I've never visited the
cemetery and don't know whether or not William has a marker. It seems to
me that as many died in a short time there may not be markers for them.
I'll look up the title of the books if you need or want them.

You mention Pleasant DeRossett, his brother John Columbus married my
gg-aunt
Francis "Frankie" Allen and they later lived in Weakley County, Tn. The
information I have on them and their descendents is very sparse, would
you
have anything?

Clarissa Smart in her "Desc of Mary Broyles Vickery etc, 1984" mentions
on
page 540 that she authored "The Rectors of Wayne County Kentucky,
1975".
There are also many Rector names contained throughout her 1984 book.
Good luck,
Dale T.

I'll be glad to exchange information with you on the DeRossetts. I have
been researching them for many years. However, I will not be able to do
so until next week.
Until then . . .

It is great to know of someone who wants to preserve and clean old
cemeteries!!
I wish someone could do that with my old family cemetery.
My gr-uncle and his family lived near Static (Grider), but as far as I
know
they had no
family buried in that cemetery. I have not found a connection to any
of
the surnames
that you have listed.
