I agree with Jeff - totally.
I have Ancestors from Owen & Gallatin County and I've had very little help.
I realize these folks may be don't want to be found or something as it seems
they never existed. However, somewhere there must be something . . . but as
far as help goes, no one seems to know anything about my people. I have
wondered at times if they (whomever) even wanted to help me. I'm not saying
it's an accurate hunch, I'm only saying that's how it feels. One wonderful lady
out of Frankfort helped me about 6 years ago. I regret to say I don't
recall her name (Pat?). She has been more help to me in finding the information
that I do have. Many, many thanks to her - she knows who she is.
As far as sharing, I can't share much because I have very little. What I do
have is already out there.
My lines:
Perkins, William - Wainscott, Nancy C.
Perkins, Missouri Ann - McKinney, John W.
Skirvin, John W. - Furnish, Susie
Note: I can find nothing at all on John W. Skirvin. The family talk is
that he died in Warsaw on Pearl Harbor Day. Now, whether this means he died on
the actual day of Pearl Harbor, or the date it happened, is unknown to me as
I have found nothing to support this. No death records, death certificate,
birth, etc. He was a Blacksmith, his brother was Thomas J. Skirvin, founder
of the Pentecostal Church in Warsaw. I can find parents, siblings, and
children, but nothing on this man as an individual. A few census with his name is
about it. He was born, he died, he lived in between, yet he's a mystery.
The same is pretty much true with Missouri Ann Perkins and he family.
Thanks,
Crystal Murphy
