Subject: [KYGRANT-L] Is there a photo of Downingsville?
Date: Sat, 15 Apr 2000 01:35:19 -0400
My connections with Grant County are slight, but I recently took an elderly lady to visit many of the places in Grant County that she had known as a child: Delia, Four Corners, Easy Street in Dry Ridge, and Downingsville.
Downingsville is all gone now. It was a few houses and a mill by the bridge. The bridge is gone but the stonework supports are still there. A private gate blocks access to the western side of the creek, where Downingsville was located. Whose property is that?
Has anyone ever seen a photograph of Downingsville? The Grant County history doesn't have one.
