Hi Folks:
I received this info from another genealogical list. It may be of help
to those searching for ancestors from Virginia, so I am passing the data
along.
Church Resources:
Research Church Records
The Anglican Church was the Established Church of Virginia prior to the
Revolution.
The area that is now Albemarle and Fluvanna were part of St. Anne's and
Fredericksville Parishes.
When Fluvanna became a separate County, Fluvanna parish was formed in 1777.
Loudoun County had Cameron Parish, and Shelburn Parish.
Hanover county, it's St. Martin and St. Paul parish.
Henrico had Henrico parish.
Goochland was St. James-Northam parish.
Frederick county was Frederick parish.
Fauquier County had Hamilton parish and Leeds parish.
Culpeper County was St. Mark's parish.
The Anglican Church was disestablished in 1784, and became the Episcopal
Church. The Baptists, Methodists, and Presbyterian Churches became active
shortly afterwards.
Few records survive from the very early churches.
