1870 census lookup.
i just got this email from the grandson of my greatgrandmother's sister
ELIZABETH MAYES
PARKER ROSs..where is WALLINS CREEK?.HARLAN county?.NOTE
there are numerous names
here.FUGATE,ROBINSON,HENDERSON,SHIPLEY,LEWIS,WOODS,
JONES.WHITEAKER & TOWNSLEY also i may even find my greatgrandparents
there,they are... JOHN? JACK? & NANCY
ANN MAYES MOORE.Nancy was born 1845 in RAY Co.MO.
daughter of STERLING & SARAH CARR MAYES.please check your files,thanks

the following e from a mr Watson..

Elizabeth Mayes
was the daughter of Sterling Mayes and Sarah
(Sallie) Carr. She died Oct. 9,
1927 in Wallins Creek, Ky. The informant on
the death certificate was an Arthur Lewis. I also found that Elizabeth
daughter and son married Shipleys, a Charles
David (or Divine) and a Mattie. They were
brother and sister, the children of
Andrew C.E. Shipley and Mary Henderson. Andrew
had a son Houston Sewell who was the father of
Clyde, Thomas, and Glenn Shipley. Clyde
married a Sudie Mayes and they are
the parents of Anna Belle Shipley Fugate that
married Tom Fugate. She is still living and
gave me some of this information.
Also, I found a Dora J. (Dory) Robinson who
married a John T.Woods in 1884 in Claiborne
County. Dora is the child of Sterling Robinson
37 and Cynthia A. 24, according
to the 1870 Claiborne County census as
transcribed by Mark Treadway. Dora's siblings
listed: James B. 8, Lizzie R. 4, Dora 3, and
John 10 months. In 1880 Dora is in the
household of Hurney Jones 73, Rabrcca 73,
Nancy 40, Wm. 10 (grandson). In 1900 census
for Claiborne County: John Woods (Aug 1849)
50,Dora 36 (Jan 1864), James 13 (Feb
1887).

they had these last 2 we assume after 1870.
JOHN MARION "DOBB" a nickname..born 1872 KNOX Co.TN.we are
told.
LIZZIE born 1875-80?.

JOHN was my gramps,he married SARAH ELLEN TOWNSLEY of
TAZEWELL,TN.they lived on CUMBERLAND GAP mountain on
the KY side from about 1918 to 1946.they mined the sand there.
also DORA WOODS the above lady we think was the best friend
of my grandmother SARAH's sister MATTIE TOWNSLEY WHITEAKER.MATTIE
married ROBERT LEE WHITEAKER.1 of their
sons was wideley known in HARLAN County as the 1 armed
engineer.his name CURREN WHITEAKER..his brothers were
EDWARD & HENRY.sister MOSSIE KATE..i have photos of them.
