Hi,

I have just joined this list and am researching the following family and the collateral lines. I'm hoping some of you can help me fill in the blanks!

Generation #1:
Lawrence Roelofson, Sr. (b. Abt. 1734 in Hesse-Kessel, Germany, he was a Hessian soldier in the French & Indian War, d.1818 in Henderson Co., KY) married Caroline Anderson (b. either in Germany or around Maryland/New Jersey/Germantown area, and possibly died in Washington or Westmoreland Co., PA). They had 7 known children:

Generation #2:
1. Unknown Roelofson (daughter) ... b. Abt. 1760 probably Trenton, NJ area, d. Abt. 1810 Henderson Co., KY, m. Norrid Franceway ... I have no information on Norrid Franceway other than some census items that say he was in Henderson Co., KY.
2. Lawrence Roelofson .. b. Bet. 1762 - 1764 NJ/MD? and d. April 01, 1856 in DeWitt Co., IL. He married Mary Smith (d/o Thomas Smith and Sarah Campbell ... Thomas was a Rev. War. soldier in the PA militia) who was b. May 30, 1779 in MD or PA, and d. 1862 in DeWitt Co., IL.
3. Ann Roelofson ... b. Bef. 1764 in PA and d. unk. She married John Knight (b. January 15, 1749/50 either PA or MD, d. 1802 at Redbanks, Henderson Co., Kentucky.
4. Joseph? Roelofson .. b. Aft. 1764 ... and he married Nandy Reed. I have nothing more on them.
5. Letitia Roelofson .. Aft. 1764 and d. 1816 Smith Mills, Henderson Co., KY. She married Robert Smith (s/o Thomas Smith & Sarah Campbell above). He was b. August 19, 1784 in Westmoreland Co. PA and d. March 05, 1858 in Henderson Co., KY.
6. Moses? Roelofson b. Aft. 1765 .. I have nothing more on him.
7. William Anderson Roelofson b. Abt. 1780-1800 and d. after 1900 in Washington state... he never married.

I'm hoping there is information about the collateral lines that my Roelofson folks married into and also more information on the family as a whole since there were so many of them in the Henderson Co. area in its beginning. I've noticed that Roelofson is spelled Rolofson, Rullison, Rullifson, Robinson, and a number of other corrupted spellings. So it's been a real treat finding them! Lawrence has also been spelled Laurence, Laurenz, Larenza, and Lorence.

I don't know if Lawrence Sr. had siblings or other relatives who migrated with him ... but I'm beginning to think so. There is a Christian Roelofson who shows up in Henderson Co. and across the Ohio in southern Indiana area ...

This is my husband's maternal line and I'm interested in gathering as much information as possible. I'll share what I have in my files in exchange. Looking forward to hearing back from some of you.

Be well & God bless,
Kate Beaugrand Cook
