Marilyn, if Mary Jane Reynolds Henderson is in your family tree, please feel free to contact me directly at I am descended from Thomas Reynolds and Nancy Melton, and have lots of info on these Reynolds, all the way back to about 1750 in VA.
Regarding John Columbus Reynolds, he does not appear to be connected with the Reynolds from around Slaughters (or what was then Slaughtersville). Look at the 1850 Union Co. KY census for the household of James and Malinda Reynolds (James appears to have been born in S.C. in about 1803). Go to the site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyunion/
and look for them in the index, then find the census page number in the transcription also available on the Union Co. site.
I have not done any research on these folks, but get the impression that the Reynolds who were living around Clay and Providence may have been descendants of this James Reynolds.
