Shooting and Killing

The colored people along the road toward Henderson seem to have a lot of bad blood in their veins. On last Sunday at Robards, while these people were engaged in a picnic, a lot of the negro men got into a cutting and shooting scrape. When the trouble was over it was found that Henry FISHER was shot to death, Barnes FISHER was so badly shot that he will die. Ex EAKENS was shot in the foot, while one or two others had some knife cuts on their bodies. The next day at Sebree in a row, Bailey HAROLDSON was cut until it is thought he will die, while another gentleman is laid up with one or more wounds. It is claimed however that those who escaped getting shot or cut had a most enjoyable time of it. (Source: Madisonville Hustler, Fri., Sept. 24, 1897)
