Pam, Jackson Mortis was born abt.1837 in Franklin Co. Alabama. He joined the voluntary Army in Evansville, Ind. in Feb. 1865 at the age of 28 and was inducted in Indianapolis, Ind. I have some papers that have his name spelled as Mortice, but the proper spelling is Mortis. He married Almeda Beall , born 1846. She is in the 1850 Henderson Censes. Her father was James F. Beall. I don't know what year Jackson Mortis died or where. I would imagine it would have been Henderson or Union Co. Ky. I am at a dead end at Jackson Mortis. He is my great great grandfather. Thanks.
