My friends -
On the JP List list night, I mentioned that I was throwing open the floor
for discussion of a possible JP Homecoming gathering sometime in 2000. I
had asked that those who had an interest in attending such an event, if it
could be arranged, to let me know, so that long range planning could be
started, if it appeared that enough could attend to make it worthwhile.
Just as a brief update, I have heard from 8 of our subscribers who have
expressed an interest in such a gathering, with about 16 potential
attendees from the families of those 8 subscribers. Suggestions have been
made about subjects for seminars, field trips, and perhaps a banquet.
In order for this to be feasible, I think we will need to have a minimum of
75 people express an interest in attending this event. I had said last
night that we ought to have about 20% of our list subscribers, and 75 is
only about 15%, but I think it could be done with that number or more.
If others of you are interested in this potential gathering, do let me
know, so I can give more thought to it and ask for more input in various
areas. If it is not workable, we'll just move on with our on-line research.
The Weakley County, TN List(one of our sister lists) subscribers are
planning a gathering around the first of September of next year. It might
be possible to have these two gatherings back-to back, but that is only a
thought.
I'll be back later with today's data posting.
