My friends -

Tonight, we will have a look at another group of early wills from Fulton
County. There was quite a response from the first set and I understand that
several of you found some new - or lost - family members as a result.

As always, if you see your family member listed, and you would like a
general abstract of the will's contents, let me know and I will get it to
you. By the way, several of you asked why I started some of the abstracts
with the quotation from the will which states, "In the name of God, Amen".
and I sometimes quoted a phrase from the will such as, "being weak in
body...". It is important, in will abstracts, to note that the testator
took an oath(In the name of God, Amen), which tells us he was not a Quaker,
as they did not take oaths. In addition, it is often worthwhile to know if
the testator, when the will as made, was nearing his life's end, and often
a phrase such as "...being weak in body..." tells us that the testator
expects not to survive very long. Of course, I doubt that we had many
Quakers in the JP, but there actually was a time when a few of them settled
in and around Calloway and Graves County, having come from PA. However,
they did not remain and moved on off toward the Northwest. As far as I
know, I have never seen a legal document to which one of them was a party.
