My friends -

Tonight, we will go back to our look at the 1840 Census of McCracken
County, which shows the heads of households. If you see your ancestor
listed, and wish the enumeration data, please let me know and I will get it
to you.

Some of you may be aware that there has been a tremendous "brouhaha" going
on in the electronic genealogy world concerning the fact that
RootsWeb(whose server hosts this List, and several thousand others, as well
as web sites - all provided free to the genealogical community by Dr. Brian
Leverich and his wife Karen Isaacson) has accepted, as a corporate sponsor,
Palladium Interactive, which is a software manufacturer of Ultimate Family
Tree. There has been a lot of concern that, somehow, Palladium would try to
exercise "control" over RootsWeb's operations, or insist on advertising
space on these lists and elsewhere. Those who believe that do not know
Brian Leverich very well. There will be no advertising and no control
exerted by Palladium over RootsWeb's operations. For us, it should be a
transparent think - Palladium hopes, of course, to sell a few more UFT
packages as a result of their sponsorship, but they will infuse some badly
needed funds into RootsWeb's operation, which is good news for all of us.
