Article found in old Newspaper archives in Mayfield. Thought might help
someone

Thesday August 04, 1908
Early Tuesday morning the Messenger office had the pleasure of a visit from
Mr. W.B. Howard, Sr. of near Lynville, one of the old "brush breakers" of
Graves County. This was the first visit, if we remember right, we have ever
received from this honored citizen of the county. He was born in North
Carolina in April 1827 and when three years old came to Graves county where he
has been a resident almost continuously since. When he located in the section
of the country where he now lives there was no road from Lynville to Mayfield
and only three settlers on the Mayfield & Paris road. Puducah was such a
small city in his early manhood that he took a load of Irish potatoes to that
place in order to sell, to by a barrel of salt, but here were so few people
there and the demand so small he could not sell his potatoes. He was married
to Miss M.J. Jetton over 50 years ago, since which time they have lived
happily every since. 12 children were born to them, 9 of whom are now living.
He is a member of the Methodist Church, a Democrat, and though over 81 years
old, he is reasonably active and in good health. Such visitors are always
given a hearty welcome in the Messenger office.

There are two more articles, someone might find interesting, I'll send later.
Thease people are not my line but hopefully will help someone.
