Subject: Fw: [KYJacksonPurchase-L] confederate pensions

I just found my gggrandmother widow's pensions application in the nashville
archives. She waited 13 years after his death before applying for her
pension which was denied because they could not locate his records. I have
always thought that stubbornness and pride were just a family trait but I'm
beginning to understand that it was the spirit of the people that settled in
this region. They wanted to stand on their own 2 feet and make their own
way and didn't want to answer to anybody except their families and their
God. This has been an eye opening experience for me.......TJ
