My friends -

Let me say at the outset today that I appreciate very much the very kind
messages that have appeared today on the List, and others that have come to
me privately, concerning my efforts with the JP List. It is heartening and
rewarding to know that those efforts are proving to be useful to so many of
you. The Jackson Purchase region of Kentucky is an area that did not
receive as much attention from historians and others as did other parts of
the State. I like to think that, from a genealogical standpoint, we are, as
a whole, making a little difference in that situation through our postings
here, and through the efforts of the dedicated people in each of the 8
counties, who work continuously to try to gather and publish information on
these counties. I always urge everyone to support the local genealogical
and historical societies of the counties in which your progenitors lived.
They depend on their memberships and their publication sales to help
finance additional such ventures. For my part, I will try to continue to
keep the JP List interesting and informative.

Tonight, we will resume our look at the 1830 population schedules from the
census of that year for Hickman County. This post, and one more, will
finish out this series. If you see an individual that is of interest, and
you would like the complete enumeration figures for that person's
household, let me know and I will get it to you. As always, you help in not
resending this entire post back to me with you request is greatly appreciated.
