Hello everyone--
I've been trying to research something for some time, to no avail,
and I'm asking the List for help.
Does anyone know what stand the Church of Christ took on slavery?
My family were charter members of the Knob Creek Church of Christ in Graves
Co. and I'm wondering what role their church played in their apparent
anti-slavery beliefs. I have heard that the Church of Christ was
anti-slavery, but thus far I can find no concrete evidence of that. All the
books I have found talk about many churches' stands, but not the Church of
Christ. Does anyone know about that or can anyone point me in the right
direction so I can research it myself?
Also, I'm one of those people who like to visualize what daily life
was like for my ancestors. Does anyone know of books or publications that
would detail what life was like for cotton farmers or during the Civil War
era in the JP area?
Thanks for any help. You can communicate with me privately if you want.
