Subject: [KYJP] Jackson Purchase Homecoming 2000 - Update
Date: Sun, 20 Aug 2000 15:35:55 -0500

My friends -

I am stopping by today to bring everyone, on all of the lists which I host
in the JP region, the most current update on our Jackson Purchase
Homecoming 2000 event, set for October 13, 14 and 15. I had pledged to
occasionally let everyone - even those who would not be able to attend -
hear about the progress on the event, just as a matter of interest.

As of yesterday, we have 58 people registered for the event, which is 12
short of our minimum number of 70, but is 7 more than we had the week
before. We have had a wonderful donation to the silent auction of 50+
genealogy books connected with the JP and KY by one of our attendees, and
we have numerous other items coming as well.
A JP Homecoming logo has been developed and will be used on tote bags and
other JP Homecoming related materials. The parking situation has been
solved, with 80+ parking spaces adjacent to the Curris Center being held
for us.

There are still a few rooms left at the discounted rate at the AmeriHost
Inn in Murray. There are also a few rooms that have already been reserved
in our block by people who have not yet registered. If you wish to stay at
this hotel, please tell the reservations clerk that you are with the
Jackson Purchase Homecoming group - this will insure that you are offered a
room(the hotel is full for that weekend, otherwise), and that you get it at
the discounted rate. Your Planning Committee is currently looking at
possibly trying to get another block of rooms for our group at another
location in Murray, should the need arise.

The revised registration deadline is 15 September. We have two types of
registrations, under the revised guidelines - the "full" registration,
which covers all three days, or a "One-Day Only" registration which will
cover one of the three days of the Conference(which would probably be
Saturday for most people). This latter type is at a reduced rate.

The Planning Committee urges all of those who plan to attend to register at
the earliest time possible. If anyone needs a Registration Form, please
contact me, or our Registration Chairperson, Judy Gordon()
and we will get it out to you by e-mail.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible the Homecoming.

-B
