Subject: [KYJP] Final Update - Jackson Purchase Homecming 2000
Date: Sun, 08 Oct 2000 16:18:49 -0500

My friends -

This will be the final lists-wide Update concerning the Jackson Purchase
Homecoming 2000 event to be held this week.

We have registered 133 attendees, which is an outstanding number for a
first-time, regional conference such as this one. We will begin receiving
the registered attendees at our Check-In table at the Curris Center on
Friday morning at 9:00 AM. There will be members of the Planning Committee
and representatives from the various county societies, as well as our
exhibitors, who will be present throughout the day Friday to offer
assistance in any way that we can to those who will be arriving throughout
the day and checking-in. At 6:00 PM, we will have a reception and evening
meal hosted by the JP Homecoming Planning Committee, with a presentation to
follow. We look forward to seeing all of the folks who will be attending.
One of the Calloway County Genealogical Society's officers will be on hand
at the Pogue Library to assist those who wish to visit that facility on
Friday.

Because of the time frames involved with this event, the JP List postings
which I make for this week will be limited. Tomorrow, there will be another
in the "Tips" series. On Tuesday, I will be travelling to the JP region,
and there will probably not be a data posting on that day. The rest of the
week will be taken up with postings concerning the JP Homecoming, so that
those who could not attend will be able to get a bit of the flavor, from my
perspective, about the gathering and its activities.

I want to express my personal thanks to the other members of the JPH
Planning Committee, namely Joyce Turner Watts, Dixie Hopkins, Judy Gordon,
Michele Wollert and Pat Ray Scheele, for loaning their talents toward the
pursuit of this first Homecoming event. I am confident that this event
will be a success and hopefully will be received well by those who attend.

-B
