My friends -

As we begin a new week, we are returning to our review of the McCracken
County Vital Statistics marriage records in the 1852-1859 and 1874-1878
time frames, with a few others in the 1893-94 and 1900-1905 period.

Subscribers to the lists which I host can obtain the full dataset for a
marriage shown in the listing below(which usually includes the ages of
groom and bride, where each was born, and the date of the marriage) by
sending a request to me. As always, your continuing cooperation in not
resending this entire message back to me with the request is greatly
appreciated.

We have seen about 8 new subscribers join us in the past 10 days, and I
want to take a moment to welcome them, and invite them to post their
research needs for the 8 counties of the Jackson Purchase region(which are
Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Marshall &
McCracken)here to the List. We have 747 other subscribers on this List who
are ready and anxious to be of assistance.

Here are some web sites associated with the JP List which may be useful to
subscribers:

Jackson Purchase Frequently Asked Questions site:
http://users.arn.net/~billco/jacksonfaq1.html

Jackson Purchase Images Web Site, containing rectangular survey grid maps
of the JP counties, early photos, the 1880 Graves County Landowner Atlas
and other items: www.rootsweb.com/~kygraves/temp/JPL.htm

Jackson Purchase Land Grants Web Site: www.rootsweb.com/~kygraves/JPGrants.htm

Jackson Purchase Extant County Records site:
http://users.arn.net/~billco/countyrecs.html

I would also encourage new subscribers to use the Jackson Purchase Surnames
website, on which they can
find others who are working on the same surnames and where they can post
their own e-mail addresses with the surnames on which they may be working.
It is a secure site and a brief registration is needed to gain entry. The
site is located at www.quickbase.com, and the name of the database is
Jackson Purchase Surnames. Please read the posting guidelines when
accessing the title page of the database.

Finally, I need to let everyone know that I will be leaving for Birmingham,
Alabama and Samford University at the end of this week. I will be at
Samford all week next week, attending the National Institute of
Genealogical & Historical Research. I will have my laptop with me for
communication, of course, but next week's postings will consist entirely of
Jackson Purchase Vignettes. The Institute is a very vigorous one, and my
time will be limited while I am there. I will bring a few bulletins to you
about the Institute as next week progresses.
