Subject: [KYJP] Item on Lore-L List - General Grant in Paducah
Date: Tue, 01 Jan 2002 12:37:22 -0600

My friends -

I am stopping in today to let you know that our good friend, Bill Jennings,
has provided to me the text of an 1883 piece from the Paducah News, which
details the visit of General U.S.Grant to Paducah early in the War Between
the States. I have posted it to the KYJacksonPurchase-Lore-L List, as that
is the appropriate vehicle for dissemination of these items. We do not get
a lot of traffic on the Lore-L List, but we do get some interesting items
appearing there on occasion. If you have changed e-mail addresses in the
past few months, you may wish to resub under your new address, if you were
subscribed to the Lore-L List. Any others wishing to subscribe to the
Lore-L List can do so by sending a message to
KYJacksonPurchase-Lore-L-request@ rootsweb.com, with nothing in the Subject
header and only the word Subscribe in the message body. This List is used
to post family stories and other "Lore" associated with the 8 counties of
the Jackson Purchase region. As I said above, we do not see much traffic
there, but I do encourage folks to post items to that list which fall into
the appropriate category(family stories, legends about the JP and/or its
people, etc. - items not appropriate for posting on the regular JP List).
