I hesitate to tell you this because it possibly could consume more of my
time than I can spare!
About a year ago, an employee of mine loaned original copies of the
Graves Co Baptist Association's "Minutes of Annual Sessions" from 1889
until 1922. I recognized it as a significant "find" and spent many
hours slaving over the copy machine. I reduced them in size to get 2
pages on a page, and there must be about 400 pages total. They are
fairly dry and boring, but I knew "someday," I would appreciate having
them!

Mt Zion was listed in the 1892 roster of churches, but not in 1894 or
later. I could find no other mention of them in either year. However,
there was some interesting proclamations about prohibition during this
period! From about 1896 until 1899, there was a movement that the local
association called "Whitsittism." I quote "Dr W H Whitsitt, pres and
prof of church history in Baptist theological Seminary, of Louisville,
KY, publicly published to the world and Pedobaptists in particular
that, he had discovered . . proof that Baptists, prior to 1641,
practiced sprinkling, or pouring, for baptism; . . . . and he further
teaches That a Baptist woman marrying a Presbyterian husband should
unite with his church . . . and the Assoc withheld all financial aid
and assistance . . . until his removal is effected."

In 1896, there were 25 deaths reported, but only two were named:
Brother I M Wilford was called to his reward october 29, 1896
Elder J A Hogan was eulogized by W F Lowe, Elder Wiman, A S Taylor, C G
Taylor, Brown, Mullins, Thomas, Clark, Murphy, and Bell.

If you have specific and serious interest, please E-mail me. But
look-ups in this would really over-burden me. If you live in the area,
I will gladly load them out, and if Bill should find a suitable
volunteer, I think this is worthy of excerpting genealogical info in
weekly installments - there's lots of names! No indexes of course.
