Subject: [KYJP] No Data Post Today

My friends -

I am going to have to "holler Uncle!" as my father used to say - the
requests are still coming in for miscellaneous files from Sunday's posting,
as well as from last night's Graves County item.

Rather than have an ever increasing backlog of requests, I am going to
refrain from posting data today in order to try to get caught up on these
pending requests.

We'll resume with data tomorrow. For now, I'll bring you a bit of humor
found in "The Jackson Republican" on 30 May 1846, which was published in
Smithland, but often had JP news in it (this issue talks about the calling
of Graves Co. volunteers to fight in the Mexican War, which had been
declared only a few days earlier - I'll be bringing items from this issue
to the List as we go along):

"A young lady, who had been insulted by an old maid residing in
her neighborhood, by way
of revenge, placarded the following on her[the old maid's]
doors and windows one night:
'To Let or Be Sold for the Term of Her Life
Elizabeth Hall, by the way of a wife
She's old and she's ugly, ill natured, and thin
For further particulars, inquire within'"

Until tomorrow.................
