My friends -

Today, we are moving to Graves County and returning to our review of some
of the snippets from the Mayfield Monitor newspaper in the 1880's and 1890.
Most of the snippets in this group are from the 1886-1887 time frame.

Since we have several new subscribers who have joined us in the last few
days, and, in addition to welcoming them, I probably should again point out
that these snippets may contain just about any type of information, from
the incredibly valuable genealogical clue that you needed to break down a
brick wall problem, to something as simple as a note that someone from
another town is visiting. There may be death notices, obituaries, birth
notices, weddings, criminal activities - just about anything that was
deemed newsworthy in the simple and gentler times of the late 19th century.

Subscribers to the JP and Graves lists can obtain the full text of a
snippet on an individual shown below by sending a message to me. As is
customary with snippet offerings, I will renew the request that no more
than three (3) snippets be requested, given the fact that some are lengthy.
And, as always, your continuing assistance in not resending this entire
message back to me with the request is greatly appreciated.

Tomorrow, we will look at some additional terminology items.
