Some of you might be interested in the weather in the Jackson Purchase some years back.
See how it compares to the following some miles upstream in 1832.


"Ohio River frozen over and remained so until January 8, 1832; 9 steamboats, 3 at Cincinnati and 6 above, destroyed and greatly injured by the breaking up of the ice. By end of the year 406 steamboats and 421 flat and keel boats had passed through the Louisville and Portland canal since January 1832. - Collins's History of Kentucky.
