Subject: [KYJP] J. Braxton Small - Calloway Co., KY - 1880

In May of this year I posted the below information and received lots of information on "Braxton Small" of Paducah from folks on the list but was not able to identify the sister of Henry B. Landon. I just found 1860 census data for McCracken Co. that listed J. N. Small (Farmer - 29) & wife Delphia A. Small (26). They had children J. B. (6), John E. (3), & Marie E. (2). The 1880 census for Murray, Calloway Co. disclosed that J. N. was no longer in the family unit. And that J. B. (now 26 and still at home with mother) was named J. Braxton Small. J. Braxton was listed in the 1880 Murray census as a Mail Contractor (don't know what that means) and his brother, John E (now 23 and still at home with mother) is a Mail Carrier. The have a new sister, Addie B. Small (17 and still at home with mother), born since the 1860 census. Marie E. is not listed in the 1880 census.
With responsibility for Calloway Co. mail service it would seem that J. Braxton Small & John E. Small would have opportunity to meet the sisters of Henry B. Landon (daughters of Joseph Jonathan Landon).
I would be most thankful for any information you have on this family,
Mike Landon

Here is another mystery from the Mayfield newspaper you might help me solve:
Quote: "On Wed Aug 26, 1896, Mrs. Brack Small of McGee Springs, Ballard Co., came up Friday to attend burial of her brother Henry Landon but arrived after the internment was over."
Henry B. Landon was born near Backusburg, Calloway Co., Oct 25, 1845, lived in Marshall Co., for a while and then moved to Mayfield, Graves Co. to establish a livery stable and died there Aug 20, 1896. Sisters possibly living at his death would be Nancy Landon, Susan Landon, Adelia Pea, and Eliza Landon. I do not know anything about Nancy or Adelia since their brother (William Edward Landon) did not mention them as being at home when his father (Joseph Jonathan Landon) died in 1869. But Susan went to live with her uncle Thomas Lapsley Smith and Eliza went to live with her uncle Jack Rose (I do not where in the JP that Jack lived?).
I have been unable to find data on a "Brack Small" in the JP and do not know where McGee Springs, Ballard Co., is or the census district for it. It seems that "Brack Small" would have been in the listing for 1890 or 1900 with the first name of his wife and thus the sister of Henry?
As always, thanks for your help.
